Company History

Glavin Industries, Inc. was founded in 1986 by David H. and Julie Glavin. The original division, Glavin Specialty Company (GSC) was run out the family’s home in Solon, OH. Mr. Glavin was a one man sales force distributing for W.H. Brady Company and a manufacturer’s rep for PanAm Imaging, a Division of Horizons Research, Inc. Mr. Glavin sold industrial identification and safety products for Brady and membrane switches for PanAm. Within the next few years the company was growing so fast it moved into a small office, still in Solon.

In 1992, after another move Mr. Glavin founded Lake Marking Products (LMP), a manufacturer of computer cut vinyl signs, small engraved signs, and other custom sign products sold by GSC. As LMP created its own marketplace and expanded more into the world of commercial signage it merged with Glavin Industries Inc. and began working as a division along side of GSC. In 1998 Mr. Glavin started a screen printing department where once again the company began manufacturing products they were already selling. In 2000 Glavin Industries acquired the assets of First Neon Signs & Service. First Neon, founded in 1932, was one of the first electric sign companies in Cleveland, OH. It immediately began operating as the third division of Glavin Industries, Inc.

In 2005 Mr. Glavin made the decision to merge the three separate divisions into one full service identification company. Now with all the divisions under the Glavin Industries, Inc. name, the company is one of the most versatile ID manufacturers in the Midwest. The company has expanded its main service area from northeastern Ohio to all of Ohio and parts of Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Michigan, and Indiana. Over the years Mr. Glavin has acquired several other small businesses that were blended into the operations of Glavin Industries, Inc. The purposes of these acquisitions were to expand the company’s customer base, primarily in the area of manufactured products.

Today Glavin Industries, Inc. operates out of a 39,000 square foot facility. The building is set up for manufacturing, distribution, and office functions. The company employs 40 skilled technical, design, and service personnel. Mr. Glavin continues to operate as President and CEO with no plans on retirement in the near future. The company hopes as always to continue growing and sees no limit to its future.
